Trump Launches Frontal Attack on CBS: “They Should Lose Their License!”
Following a critical news segment, Trump urges the FCC to shut CBS down — and he’s not stopping there.
After Sunday night’s broadcast of the iconic news program 60 Minutes, Donald Trump went into full attack mode.
On his social media platform, Truth Social, he lashed out at CBS and demanded that the network be stripped of its broadcasting license.

The episode, which focused on both Ukraine and Trump’s past remarks about Greenland, led the former president to call CBS “more out of control than ever before.” He urged the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), chaired by his own appointee Brendan Carr, to issue “maximum fines and sanctions.”
According to Trump, the reason for his outrage is a “deeply misleading” portrayal of him and his political stance.
He was particularly enraged by an interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in which Trump was indirectly accused of promoting a Russian narrative. Zelenskyy responded to the issue by saying: “Unfortunately, I believe Russian narratives are gaining traction in the U.S.”
The program also featured a segment on Trump’s ambitions to bring Greenland under U.S. control – an idea he floated in 2019 and has repeated since.
CBS showed footage of protesters in Greenland and aired statements from Greenlanders who felt insulted by Trump’s remarks. Former politician Aqqaluk Lynge said: “We saw your faces in Congress, laughing at Greenland… And it was ugly.”
A Dishonest Actor
Trump called 60 Minutes “a dishonest political actor disguised as a news outlet” and claimed the broadcast wasn’t just critical journalism, but a coordinated campaign against him. He also referred to a previous interview with Kamala Harris, which he claimed was edited to make her appear more presidential – an interview he has already filed a lawsuit over.
The Trump administration has recently intensified its confrontation with the media. After the FCC launched investigations into NPR, PBS, and now CBS, critics like researcher Matthew Gertz have warned that “we are effectively witnessing an assault on freedom of speech and press freedom from all sides of the Trump administration right now.”
Trump himself sees it differently. According to him, this isn’t about silencing the media – it’s about holding them accountable. And in the case of CBS, he demands nothing less than having them taken off the air.
