Trump to Call Putin and Zelensky: “The War Must End”
More than 5,000 soldiers die every week, Trump writes in a new post – now he wants to intervene personally.
More than 5,000 soldiers are losing their lives each week in the war between Russia and Ukraine – according to former President Donald Trump in a new post on the social media platform Truth Social.
Now, he declares that he is once again ready to try to bring the conflict to an end.
At 10:00 a.m. U.S. time on Monday, he has scheduled a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Shortly afterward, he plans to call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, followed by a conversation with NATO leaders.
“The topics of the call will be to stop the ‘bloodbath’, which on average claims the lives of more than 5,000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers each week, as well as trade,” Trump writes in the post.
According to him, the day will conclude with a broader dialogue between Zelensky and representatives from NATO. The hope is that the meetings will pave the way for a ceasefire.
“Hopefully it will be a productive day, a ceasefire will take place, and this very violent war – a war that should never have happened – will come to an end,” Trump adds.
This is not the first time Trump has expressed ambitions to end the war in Ukraine, but with this direct approach and concrete timeline, he signals that he still sees himself as a key player on the global stage.
