Shooting Near Jewish Museum Shakes Washington: Two Israeli Diplomats Killed
A brutal double murder has sent shockwaves through Washington, D.C., drawing condemnation from both American and Israeli top officials.
Two employees of the Israeli embassy—a man and a woman—were shot and killed Wednesday evening during an event near the Capital Jewish Museum.
Planned Proposal Ends in Tragedy
The two victims, described by the Israeli ambassador as a young couple on the verge of engagement, were reportedly shot at close range.
The shooting occurred in the area around 3rd and F Streets in Northwest Washington—just steps from the museum, the FBI’s local field office, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Police responded shortly after reports of gunfire and have since arrested a man preliminarily identified as 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez.
“He was seen loitering in front of the museum before the event, and when taken into custody, he repeatedly said the words ‘Free Palestine,’” said Police Chief Pamela Smith.
