Popular Weight Loss Medication May Lead to Unplanned Pregnancy
Warning from British health authorities
Women using weight loss medications like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro are now warned about an increased risk of unplanned pregnancy.
The warning comes from the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), reports The Guardian.
40 Reports of Pregnancy
MHRA has received 40 reports of pregnancies among users of the medication. Mounjaro, in particular, stands out with 26 reports. It is believed that the medication can reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills, especially in overweight individuals.

Not Advised During Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Taking the medication during pregnancy, when trying to become pregnant, or during breastfeeding is not advised, as there is insufficient knowledge about potential risks to the child. In some cases, it is recommended to wait up to two months after finishing treatment before trying to conceive.
