Trump Takes a Firm Stance Against Putin
President Trump considers extensive sanctions against Russia following escalation in the Ukraine conflict.
Putin’s War Prompts Trump’s Reaction
The relationship between the USA and Russia has long been marked by cautious diplomacy, but President Donald Trump has now chosen to speak out.
On Tuesday, he declared at a cabinet meeting that he is no longer satisfied with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin. “I am not happy with Putin because he kills a lot of people,” Trump stated, pointing out that Russian soldiers are also among the victims.
New Sanctions on the Horizon
Trump’s statements come as the USA resumes arms deliveries to Ukraine, after a brief pause.
This shift clearly indicates a tougher stance towards Russia and sends a strong signal that the USA will no longer tolerate Putin’s aggressive policies in Ukraine.
A new sanctions package, the Sanctioning Russia Act of 2025, is already under review in the Senate and enjoys broad bipartisan support.
A total of 80 senators have backed the legislation, which includes hefty tariffs of up to 500 percent on imports of Russian oil, gas, and uranium, as well as restrictions against Russian sovereign debt and financial transactions.
Trump has emphasized that he is looking “very seriously” at the proposal.
