Russian Support in the Background – Iran Strikes US Bases with Missiles
As U.S. officials monitor new attacks against bases in Qatar and Iraq, Russia emphasizes its solidarity with Iran.
The conflict between Iran and the USA escalated dramatically as Iran launched several missiles targeting American military installations in Qatar and Iraq.
Particularly significant is the focus on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest American military base in the Middle East, which was recently visited by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The missiles were launched early in the evening, and American officials closely followed the attack from the Situation Room in the White House.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Dan Caine personally monitored the situation.
The attacks come after U.S. officials spent the weekend preparing for possible Iranian retaliation.
Iran has reportedly initiated an operation against American interests, according to Iranian state television.
In a remarkable statement from Russia, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov emphasized that the Russian partnership with Iran is “unbreakable“. Ryabkov supported Iran’s right to self-defense and stressed the importance of strategic cooperation between Moscow and Tehran.
“Iran is acting within the framework of its right to self-defense. It is absolutely legitimate,” Ryabkov said according to the Russian news agency TASS.
Russian backing underscores how complex and tense the international situation is, especially when Russia openly gives its support to a country actively attacking American installations.
Earlier in the day, Putin also expressed his support for Iran during a meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Moscow.
Putin further criticized the USA for using “the language of ultimatum,” a stance he deemed unacceptable.
