Trump Opens the Door for Regime Change: Make Iran Great Again

Donald Trump has once again set the agenda with a controversial statement on his social network, Truth Social. This time it’s about Iran. Trump openly suggests that a regime change might be necessary if the current regime fails to “make Iran great again”—a clear reference to his slogan about the USA.

A Provocative Statement

With the words: “If the current Iranian regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why shouldn’t there be a regime change? MIGA!!!” Trump challenges the established U.S. foreign policy.

So far, both Democrats and Republicans have been reluctant to publicly endorse regime change in Iran, even during tense situations.

Trump directly opposes this consensus, placing himself in a position that both provokes and potentially destabilizes the relationship between the U.S. and Iran further.
