Trump Urges Hamas to Ceasefire: 60-Day Pause Could Halt Bloodshed
A 60-day ceasefire agreement is in place with Israel, says Trump – but Hamas must act quickly.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that Israel has agreed to the terms of a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza.
The agreement now awaits approval from Hamas, and Trump has sent a clear message to the organization: the deal is the best they can get – and the consequences of rejecting it could be severe.
“My representatives had a long and productive meeting with the Israelis today regarding Gaza. Israel has accepted the necessary conditions for a 60-day ceasefire, during which we will work with all parties to end the war,” Trump wrote on social media.
He added sharply: “I hope, for the sake of the Middle East, that Hamas accepts this deal, because it won’t get any better – it will only get worse.”
Gaza on the Brink of Catastrophe
Recent times have seen the conflict in Gaza reach new tragic heights. On Monday, at least 74 people lost their lives due to Israeli airstrikes, including 30 civilians in an attack on a beach cafe.
On the same day, seven members of one family were killed during an airstrike in central Gaza.
The situation in hospitals is desperate, and fuel shortages have forced Shifa Hospital to suspend dialysis treatments for kidney patients.

Israeli Acceptance Puts Pressure on Hamas
Israel’s acceptance of the ceasefire comes just days before a meeting between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington. Netanyahu has previously indicated a willingness to find a solution, but the conditions for a permanent peace agreement remain a significant challenge.
Hamas demands that Israel withdraws all troops and lifts the blockade of Gaza, which Israel refuses.
The U.S. president has pressed Hamas with dramatic ultimatums on several occasions before. However, with the current agreement, Trump believes the situation can change decisively, even though around 50 hostages are still being held in Gaza.
Humanitarian Organizations Demand Immediate Action
At the same time as Trump’s announcement, over 150 international aid organizations, including Oxfam, Amnesty International, and Save the Children, have called for reform of the aid system in Gaza.
The organizations criticize the system for chaotic and dangerous conditions, which have cost several Palestinians their lives while seeking food.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned earlier Tuesday of further military actions after a missile was launched from Yemen towards Israel.
He declared that Yemen could be subject to actions similar to those previously carried out on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
The decision now lies with Hamas, and Trump’s message is clear: This is the last chance to stop the cycle of violence before the situation deteriorates further.
