UN Delivers Final Food Ration in Gaza

Millions are left without food while 116,000 tons of aid sit just outside the border, waiting for entry.

The last delivery of humanitarian aid in Gaza has been made. The World Food Programme (WFP) has announced that its food stocks in the area are now completely depleted.

The final meals have been served at community kitchens that, for weeks, were a partial lifeline to millions of people.

With border crossings closed for over seven weeks, no new supplies have entered. This marks the longest blockade in Gaza’s history.

Food prices have soared, and access to essentials like flour and fuel is nearly gone.

“WFP is also deeply concerned about the severe lack of safe water and fuel for cooking – forcing people to scavenge for items to burn to cook a meal,” the organization stated.

All 25 WFP-supported bakeries shut down at the end of March, and food parcels meant to last two weeks have been exhausted.

Meanwhile, over 116,000 metric tons of aid – enough to feed one million people for four months – are stationed at the border, ready to enter once access is granted.

The UN is urging all parties to open the crossings and allow lifesaving aid in before more lives are lost.
