India Shuts Its Doors: All Visa Services for Pakistanis Suspended

India’s message is unmistakable: After the Pahalgam massacre, diplomatic restraint is no longer on the table.

Following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, India has halted all visa services for Pakistani nationals — effective immediately and with no exceptions. This includes all previously issued visas, which will become invalid starting April 27. Medical visas will only remain valid until April 29.

Most Pakistani citizens currently in India will therefore have less than 72 hours to leave the country.

A Clear Signal

The decision is part of India’s broader strategy to diplomatically isolate Pakistan. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, this move was taken “in continuation of the decisions made by the Cabinet Committee on Security following the Pahalgam attack.”

Indian nationals are now strongly advised not to travel to Pakistan, and those already there are urged to return home as soon as possible. The stern message has been widely interpreted as a possible prelude to further — potentially military — actions.
