With a sentence already making its way into the history books, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirms a large-scale attack on Russian territory. The operation, which had been in preparation for a year and a half, is described by the president as “an absolutely brilliant result.”

A Precise and Planned Countermove

“A result achieved solely by Ukraine. One year, six months, and nine days from the start of planning to effective execution,” Zelenskyy writes in a post on the social media platform X. He also emphasizes that the Ukrainian operators behind the attack were safely extracted from Russian soil in time.

The post is accompanied by photos showing Zelenskyy seated across from Vasyl Maliuk, head of the Ukrainian Security Service (SSU).

According to the president, it was also Maliuk who reported on the operation’s execution. A hug in one of the photos indicates a long-running mission involving significant risks and complex planning.

An Operation with Historical Perspective

Zelenskyy calls the attack “our longest-range operation” and hints that full details cannot yet be made public. “These are Ukrainian actions that will undoubtedly end up in the history books,” he writes.

At the same time, he uses the opportunity to send a clear message to Moscow: “Ukraine is defending itself, and rightly so. We are doing everything to make Russia feel the need to end this war.”

Strategy, Patience, and Determination

The strike, which has not yet been publicly detailed, appears to mark a new step in Ukraine’s military strategy.
