EU Tariff Threat: 100 Billion Dollars at Stake

The EU threatens massive tariffs on American goods in response to Trump’s trade policies.

The European Union is escalating its stance in the ongoing trade conflict with the United States. A newly published sanctions list outlines potential tariffs on over $100 billion worth of American products. Spanning 218 pages, the list includes everything from airplanes and cars to bourbon, nuts, and home appliances.

With this move, the EU sends a clear message to Washington: if Trump refuses to lift tariffs on European goods, the EU is prepared to strike back—with force.

From groceries to Boeing

The list reveals just how far the EU is willing to go. Products like American wine, food items, and auto parts are all on the line. Industrial giants such as Boeing may also be directly affected. “We don’t want conflict, but we won’t accept one-sided protectionism,” an EU official stated.

Preparation and pressure

European companies now have 30 days to respond if critical goods are included. At the same time, the EU hopes for progress in negotiations before tariffs are triggered—possibly as early as July. Including a previously approved (but suspended) list, the EU is ready to impose tariffs on up to $120 billion in U.S. exports.

With 70% of EU exports to the U.S. already subject to American tariffs, the stakes are high. If the U.S. adds duties on pharmaceuticals, the conflict could escalate even further.
