From April 29 to May 1, 2025, Danish Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen will travel to Greenland alongside His Majesty King Frederik X. The visit will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Sirius Patrol and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Station Nord.

The trip begins in Nuuk, where the Minister will meet with Vivian Motzfeldt, Greenland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs. Discussions will include updates on the Arctic Capacity Package and Denmark’s NATO capability targets in the region.

On April 30, the delegation continues to Station Nord to celebrate the Sirius Patrol’s contribution to Arctic security, joined by Nordic ministers. The patrol, operating in the world’s largest national park under extreme conditions, is described as “a unique force blending historic legacy with modern operational capabilities.”

The visit will also feature a tour of Danish Defence facilities and demonstrations of Sirius’ specialized operations. As Troels Lund Poulsen emphasizes: “The Sirius Patrol stands as a symbol of the strong bond between Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands.”

The timing of the visit comes amid heightened international focus on Greenland, particularly due to growing American interest in the Arctic region.
