“He threatened to release sex tapes”: Cassie’s mother recounts the humiliations
With tears in her eyes, Regina Ventura described how the family mortgaged their home to protect her daughter from Diddy’s threats.
With a trembling voice and tears in her eyes, Regina Ventura stepped into the witness stand on Tuesday in the sensational trial against Sean “Diddy” Combs. As the mother of singer Cassie Ventura, the main witness in the case involving sex trafficking and extortion, she was able to shed light on the dark chapter her daughter was allegedly drawn into by the powerful music mogul.
An Email and a Threat
The prosecution presented an email dated December 23, 2011, sent from Cassie to her mother and Diddy’s assistant Capricorn Clark. The email laid it bare and indisputable: Combs had threatened to release two explicit sex tapes of her unless he received $20,000. “I was physically sick. I didn’t understand it all. The sex tapes shook me,” Regina Ventura explained in court.
She described how the family, driven by fear, chose to take a voluntary addition to their mortgage to raise the amount. “We decided it was the only way we could find the money,” she said. Combs eventually returned the money, but the threat lingered in the air.

Documented the Violence
But it was not just threats that filled the mother’s account. Regina Ventura had also documented physical injuries her daughter allegedly suffered as a result of Diddy’s violence.
“I couldn’t just stand by and watch,” she explained, describing how she carefully took pictures of Cassie’s bruises and injuries. These images were previously shown to the jury as part of the prosecution’s attempt to substantiate the narrative of systemic abuse.
