Josephine Skriver donates all her fashion week earnings to girls in need
During Copenhagen Fashion Week, the top model walks the runway for a bigger cause: rights for the world’s most vulnerable girls.
A Catwalk with a Clear Message
When Josephine Skriver took to the runway during Copenhagen Fashion Week this week, it wasn’t just about fashion. The Danish supermodel, known for working with brands like Prada, Gucci, and Chanel, chose to donate all her earnings from the Gestuz and Munthe shows to PlanBørnefonden’s work for girls’ and women’s rights.
Her modeling agency, Unique Models, followed suit and donated their fee as well. The fashion brand Munthe, a partner of PlanBørnefonden, contributed an additional 25,000 kroner. Altogether, the donation totals 75,000 kroner—money that can make a tangible difference for girls in some of the world’s most vulnerable areas.
A Personal Fight for Equality
Josephine Skriver has been an ambassador for PlanBørnefonden since 2021, and her involvement stems from personal encounters:
“I have met some of the girls and women that PlanBørnefonden works with. They face so many challenges but show incredible strength. It means a lot to me to use my platform to highlight this,” she shares.
Since becoming a mother to her daughter Aurora in 2023, her fight has taken on even greater significance:
All children have the right to a safe childhood and to control over their own bodies. It is important to me that my daughter grows up understanding that we must stand together to protect those rights.
A Fashion Week Driven by Passion and Purpose
According to UN Women, girls’ and women’s rights have been weakened in one out of every four countries worldwide, while cuts in development aid are limiting access to education and healthcare. For this reason, PlanBørnefonden’s director, Dorthe Petersen, appreciates the contribution:
It sends an important message at a time when rights are under pressure in many places. We are grateful that Josephine is using her voice, time, and work to shed light on this issue.
Through this gesture, Josephine Skriver demonstrates that fashion can be much more than clothes and glamour—it can also be a tool for real change.
